JANE FONDA, 85, REFLECTS ON MORTALITY: ‘I’M READY’ – CANDID STATEMENT SPARKS CONVERSATION

Jane Fonda, a long-standing figure in the celebrity world, has reached the age of 85, signaling a significant chapter in her career, even as she continues to work. Despite concerns from certain fans due to her advanced age and health challenges, the actress recently shared her perspective on death, asserting that she is “not scared.”

Having spent almost her entire life in the public eye, Fonda now endeavors to utilize her remaining time on Earth to emphasize the importance of celebrities using their voices to advocate for crucial causes. In September of the previous year, Fonda disclosed her diagnosis of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Speaking openly with Entertainment Tonight, she expressed, “I’m not going to be around for much longer.”

Continuing, she acknowledged the awareness that comes with age, stating, “When you get to be my age, you better be aware of the amount of time that is behind you, as opposed to in front of you. I mean, that’s just realistic.”

Following her cancer diagnosis, Fonda shared that she would undergo chemotherapy treatment. Despite the personal challenges, she conveyed gratitude for the treatability of the cancer and her privileged access to quality healthcare.

In an interview with ET!, Fonda reiterated her readiness for whatever comes next, emphasizing the awareness that her time is limited. Fortunately, she responded positively to chemotherapy, announcing on her website in December that her cancer was in remission, allowing her to discontinue chemo.

While Fonda acknowledges her blessings and good fortune, she maintains a perspective on death that aligns with viewing it as an adventure. Unafraid of dying, she shared during an appearance on “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace” that she still has much to do, expressing a fear of reaching the end of life with regrets and an inability to address them.

Reflecting on her life, Fonda admitted to having very few regrets but expressed a desire to have been a different kind of mother to her children when they were younger, recognizing their talents and intelligence while acknowledging her own shortcomings in parenting.

I for one will certainly miss the legendary Jane Fonda when she’s gone.
