Jennifer Aniston recently reflected on the tragic loss of Matthew Perry, her co-star from the beloved sitcom Friends, emphasizing that he did not appear to be struggling when they last communicated via text just hours before his passing.

Matthew Perry, renowned for his portrayal of Chandler Bing on Friends, passed away in late October following a prolonged battle with alcohol and substance abuse. He was found unresponsive in the hot tub of his Los Angeles residence, and despite efforts by first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the immediate aftermath of Perry’s sudden death, there was much speculation surrounding the circumstances. He was discovered unresponsive in his hot tub, and despite emergency medical intervention for a possible cardiac arrest, he was ultimately declared dead due to apparent drowning.

Perry’s funeral took place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in early November, with family members, close friends, and former Friends co-stars in attendance. An initial toxicology report indicated the absence of methamphetamine or fentanyl in Perry’s system at the time of his passing.

Indeed, those close to Perry, who had long grappled with personal challenges, asserted that he had not suffered a relapse, contrary to certain insinuations in other reports. Instead, they emphasized that he was actively striving to turn his life around.

Now, Jennifer Aniston, his former co-star from Friends, has shared her thoughts on her late friend. Aniston and Perry formed a close bond during their time on the beloved sitcom, and their friendship endured long after the show ended.

In a conversation with Reese Witherspoon for Variety, Aniston disclosed, “He was happy. He was healthy. He had quit smoking. He was getting in shape. He was happy,” adding, “that’s all I know.”

The Morning Show star further revealed that she had been exchanging texts with Perry on the day of his passing.

“I was literally texting with him that morning, funny Matty,” she recalled. “He was not in pain. He wasn’t struggling. He was happy.”

While initial speculation suggested that Perry may have been under the influence of an unknown substance at the time of his death, Aniston emphasized, “I want people to know he was really healthy, and getting healthy. He was on a pursuit.”
